Within the framework of the FLOWS small grants scheme, an initiative has been supported for investments in essential assets aimed at improving water conservation and sustainable water management in an existing 4-hectare orchard. The total investment amounts to €13,815, focusing on enhancing water supply security and increasing water use efficiency.
The main objectives include improving water availability for both current and future needs, optimizing water use through more efficient solutions, and reducing water losses caused by leakage, evaporation, or uncontrolled discharge.
Implemented activities include the installation of water storage tanks of different capacities, the drilling of a 130-meter-deep well with structural protection, the installation of water supply and booster pumps, as well as the engagement of technical support staff and additional workers.
Expected results are a more reliable water supply, improved efficiency in the use of natural resources, and increased productivity of the orchard, while also contributing to environmental sustainability and local economic development.
