Fostering and Leveraging Opportunities for Water Security (FLOWS), financed through the World Bank loan (credit no. 6639 – XK), implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure of Kosova held it’s first workshop for the finalization of the Small Grants Manual.
FLOWS objectives are to strengthen the national capacities for managing water security and improve water security in Morava e Binces Basin, while strengthening national water resources investment planning, enhancing information services for water management and enhancing regulation of damn operation safety.
Hence, the projects workshop was focused in the preparation of the Grant Manual, which will be used for the implementation of the objective of the Water Stewardship Grant Program (WSGP), which is to promote sustainable natural resource management, increase citizens’ environmental awareness, and encourage environmental actions that address environmental challenges at a village or municipality level.
The small grants will be provided to community groups, civil society organizations, or individuals in selected sub-basins, prioritized based on vulnerability to climate changes, among other criteria, to (a) promote, test, and demonstrate innovative practices to increase water security, leading to improved resilience to drought and flood; (b) enhance sustainable natural resources management that will increase carbon sequestration potential in the project area: and (c) raise awareness about water security and environmental protection.
