During the World Bank mission week, the FLOWS Programme and World Bank teams held meetings with institutions and donors, engaged in dynamic discussions with stakeholders, and conducted a field visit in the Gjilan region, focusing on key investments and interventions in the water sector.
With stakeholders, discussions focused on the progress of the FLOWS Programme, which covers multiple areas of the water sector, particularly critical water infrastructure and dams. Within this component, following the completion of the project assessing dam safety and identifying the measures required, the World Bank also expressed interest in early warning and alarm systems, as well as priority dam rehabilitation measures in Kosovo. These projects are currently under assessment.

During the field visit, the team met with the Regional Water Company KRU Hidromorava, where they discussed the progress of ongoing activities and the needs for rehabilitation and improvement of the water supply infrastructure. The visit also included the water supply network, where works are progressing at a good pace. This provided the teams with an opportunity to see firsthand the results of the investments and discuss technical and operational issues with the relevant stakeholders.
The teams also visited the site of the Desivojce Dam, one of the strategic investments aimed at strengthening water security in Kosovo.
Field visits are an important part of World Bank and FLOWS missions, enabling progress to be assessed, interinstitutional coordination to be strengthened, and the next steps for implementing investments in the water sector to be identified.
