The 13th ICOLD European Club Symposium took place on 21–25 September 2026 in Bydgoszcz, organized by the Polish Committee on Large Dams (POLCOLD). Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Fitore Pacolli Dalipi was among the opening speakers. She attended the simposium together with FLOWS Program Management Team.
In her address, Minister Pacolli Dalipi outlined Kosova’s commitment to joining the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD). This will be done by establishing a National Committee on Dams, strengthening the institutions responsible for dams, and building a pool of local experts. With five new large dams now in design, Kosova needs access to international expertise, standards, and good practice in dam safety and water infrastructure. ICOLD provides that access. The Minister stated that Kosova aims to be an active member of ICOLD that contributes to its work.
During the symposium, Minister Pacolli Dalipi met with:
– ICOLD President Devendra Kumar Sharma
– EURCOLD President Arjan Jovani
– the chairs of the Polish, Swiss, French, UK, and Italian national committees on large dams
The discussions covered Kosova’s membership process and cooperation on dam safety.
Kosova’s participation was supported through the GFPP-funded Dam Safety Regulatory Framework and Capacity Establishment project, under the World Bank-supported FLOWS Program.
