Within the FLOWS Project, with the participation of representatives from the World Bank and the selected contractor, the kick-off meeting was held for the project “Detailed Design for the Kamenica Dam” and the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment. This marks an important step toward implementing a strategic investment in the water sector and regional development.
The project foresees the design of an RCC-type dam, approximately 58 meters high and 184.5 meters long. The reservoir is expected to have a capacity of around 5.9 million cubic meters, with a catchment area of about 0.4 square kilometers.
Project components also include the construction of supporting infrastructure, such as access and connecting roads, as well as the development of a water treatment plant, an irrigation canal, and a mini hydropower plant.
The project is implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, with financial support from the World Bank, the European Commission, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. Its main objective is to enhance drinking water supply security, improve irrigation, and ensure more effective flood management.
