Gjilan, Kosovo — A World Bank mission, led by Carole Megevand, World Bank Country Manager for Kosovo, together with the FLOWS Project Implementation Unit , carried out a field visit to Përlepnicë and Gjilan to monitor ongoing progress in key water infrastructure investments.
The visit covered the Gjilan reservoir site, pumping station in Velekincë, and transmission pipeline and water treatment facilities in Përlepnicë. These interventions are part of the broader efforts under the FLOWS program to enhance water supply security, modernize infrastructure, and ensure reliable access to clean drinking water for local communities.

Key Site Developments
Velekincë – Pumping Station
Upgrades to the pumping system have been completed, increasing capacity to 150 m³/hour. In addition, the chlorination system has been installed and is fully operational, ensuring improved water safety.

Përlepnicë – Transmission Line & Water Facilities
Significant progress has been made on the Ø630 transmission pipeline, with 1.5 km of the planned 3 km installed. The chlorination system is in place and operational, and construction of a 3,500 m³ drinking water reservoir is advancing according to schedule.
Baja – Pumping Station
Renovation and pump replacement works are set to begin soon.
“Burgu” Pumping Station
Construction works are ongoing and progressing as planned.

Strengthening Kosovo’s Water Security
These investments demonstrate continued collaboration between the World Bank and national stakeholders to reinforce Kosovo’s water infrastructure, improve service reliability that benefit communities.
